| The Eagle | The Eagle is an unprecedented full-stack cognitive radio solution for RF situational awareness and spectrum operations. It is based on custom silicon that mates highly-configurable analog/RF/digital front end hardware directly to high-performance computing via high-bandwidth low-latency links — all on a single integrated circuit. The radio board reference design — fully autonomous and self-contained— weighs less than 80g and dissipates 2W of power (under load!), thus providing an ultra-low SWaP solution for real-time electromagnetic spectrum operations. All radio processing is performed on-chip, via a heterogeneous multi-processor system that is programmed via a standard C-based software design flow — enabling true software-defined radio. The processing complex consists of dual-core real-time control processors, dual-core VLIW vector processors, and a programmable forward error correction (FEC) processor. This enables full-stack radio processing — from waveform and spectral analysis, to demodulation and forward-error correction decode — to be executed on-chip. This is a cognitive radio technology tuned to the needs of the Third Offset Strategy, and beyond. |
