| Firewood Processing | We work very hard to salvage as much wood as possible from every tree. Keeping these graceful giants out of landfills and preserving them for future generations is one of our passions. Unfortunately, the trunk is the only portion of a tree that is useful for producing lumber. Rather than chipping the branches to be used for mulch - or even worse, sending it to landfill - why not use this wood as a source of renewable energy? When we are finished milling your logs into lumber, we can cut and split the branches of your wood into firewood for your fireplace. Using our 36 volt battery-operated chainsaw and 16 ton plug-in electric woodsplitter, we can process your firewood with zero direct emissions, guaranteeing that your firewood will be truly carbon-neutral. |
| Live Edge Hardwood Slabs | We keep a modest inventory of stunning live edge hardwood slabs. We usually carry a diverse selection of sizes and grades from a range of local and exotic species such as black walnut, cherry, maple, ash, elm, honey locust, oak, and more. We sell our live edge slabs by the piece rather than by the board foot, recognizing the unique inherent beauty in the grain of each individual piece of wood. | Log Recovery and Extraction | We have a wealth of traditional log handling tools that allow us to retrieve logs from incredibly tight spaces. Our collection of peaveys, cant hooks, pickaroons and log arches allow us to extract large logs from even the tiniest urban backyards. Our t-handle log arch allows us to move logs up to 24 inches diameter and 16 feet long by hand, with ease. Our ATV log arch allows us to move logs up to 28 inches diameter by 10 feet long. No cranes or heavy equipment required. Our log arches require only a 42 inch wide opening to access your log and extract it for milling. For even narrower openings, we can recover logs up to 24 inches in diameter with a skidding cone and a winch. |
| Portable Sawmilling | We operate a portable bandsaw mill capable of sawing logs up to 28 inches in diameter, and an alaskan chainsaw mill that can saw logs up to 55 inches in diameter. Both mills can handle logs up to 16 feet long. We can mill any type of hardwood or softwood, and are happy to saw logs from urban tree removals as well as private woodlots. Our mills are ultra-portable & eco-friendly. Our bandsaw mill runs on B20 Bideisel, as part of our concerted effort to minimize our environmental footprint and reduce our dependancy on fossil fuels. This bandsaw mill is so light that it can be moved by hand, often by only one or two people. And our chainsaw mill is so portable it can be taken anywhere. |
| Urban Woodlot Management | Let us help you manage your private woodlot the environmentally-conscious way with our low-impact logging techniques. We use a combination of traditional and state-of-the-art equipment and techniques to minimize the damage to your woodlot during harvesting operations. We adhere strictly to the principles of ecoforestry, and can now go even further than that by offering zero-direct emissions pruning, plantation thinning, felling and log forwarding services.
