We handled appraisal requests from a variety of people and organizations, including but not limited to, individuals, families, executors and executrix, trustees and receivers, lawyers, bailiffs, insurance companies, financial organizations such as banks and asset based lenders, and businesses. Professional Appraisal Services: Estate Planning Insurance Damage & Loss Claims Litigation Support Charitable Donations Divorce Settlements Estate Planning: is based on the fair market method of valuation, which offers an objective estimate for all property in the estate. Fair market value is defined as the amount for which property may be sold by a seller and a buyer, both of whom are willing but not compelled to buy or sell. When a death occurs, it is important to establish the value of an estate and decide how to divide and/or sell the contents of the home or a collection. Clients in need of our Estate Planning services include, Executors and Executrix of an estate to help facilitate settlement between all the parties involved. Or Heirs to an estate to help ensure an equitable distribution and/or liquidation of the assets. Insurance Appraisals: can be used in conjunction with an insurance policy to establish an exposure level in the event of a loss and determine the property owners level of compensation. Clients may also request appraisals to contest appreciation increases mandated by insurance companies. In addition, many clients are often unaware that most household insurance policies specifically exclude fine art and jewellery (you may want to review your current homeowners insurance policy to ensure appropriate coverage exists to adequately protect your personal property). Damage and Loss Claims: This type of appraisal is used to estimate the value of lost, stolen, destroyed or damaged property in the event of fire, vandalism, theft, flood and natural disasters. A Damage and Loss Claim appraisals offer a detailed description of the property involved. This type of appraisal is based on physical inspection of the remains, client interviews and old documentation and/or photographs. Litigation Support: We offer Litigation Support to Lawyers and Attorneys who are in need of property valuations and/or reviews of past personal property appraisal reports. Charitable Donations: These appraisals are used to estimate fair market value of the donated property. It is imperative for Charitable Donation appraisals to be thoroughly documented and highly accurate, as charities could lose their registered status if they issue high value tax receipts based on inaccurate appraisals. In addition, tax receipts can also be annuled if found to be based on inflated values. Divorce Settlements: We can help ease the tension involved with a divorce proceeding by providing an unbiased valuation of the clients assets. It has been proven by using an independent professional appraisal for property division can increase the chances of a favourable resolution. Divorce Appraisals are usually handled in a legal context and consequently the report must be well documented as it is often challenged in a court of law. This type of appraisal service can be offered to lawyers or directly to a client. |
