Custom GPS Data | Qaujimautik Systems can produce geo-referenced data for your area of interest. Data such as trails, points of interest, safe harbours, and safe travel routes can be collected and digitized into a format suitable for use in many GPS units. |
Emergency Beacons | A beacon is a battery-powered emergency transmitter that sends a coded 406.1 MHz radio signal upon activation. A system of satellites receives the distress signal from your beacon and search and rescue authorities will react to the alert in an appropriate manner. Qaujimautik Systems sells both traditional beacons and those that are integrated with GPS to improve accuracy. Traditional beacons have a 2.3 nm accuracy and a 60 minute average global response time. Integrated GPS beacons have a 0.5 nm accuracy and a 15 minute average global response time. There are a few types of beacons: Emergency Locator Transmitters (ELTs) for aviation use, Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacons (EPIRBs) for maritime use, and Personal Locator Beacons (PLBs) for applications which are neither aviation or maritime. |
Fixed Satellite Tracking Device | The fixed tracking solution involves a module (voice / data or both), the TrackAlert interface with accompanying emergency button, backup power, and an integrated Iridium / GPS antenna. If the module supports voice, the intelligent handset is incorporated providing a full tracking and voice solution. Fixed tracking devices are ideal for aircraft, boats, or vehicles. Different configurations are available for a fixed tracking device. The TrackAlert module can be assembled with numerous units, some of which support data only, or voice and data. In addition, there is a choice of antennas that can be used with the unit. |
Garmin GPS Units | GPS units may be purchased from Qaujimautik Systems with pre-loaded maps of your area of interest based on the 1:50,000 or 1:250,000 National Topographic System (NTS) maps. However, at this time, some areas are not available at the 1:50,000 scale. Several models are sold for both marine and terrestrial applications. (View basemaps) Basic Handhelds Mapping Handhelds GPS/2-way Radio For those needing GPS units for nautical applications, Garmin has multiple models available including chartplotters, sounders, fishfinders and affordable marine networking units that seamlessly connects several plug-and-play marine components that deliver position data, charting, live weather updates, sonar, radar and other important data to boaters fingertips. |
HF Radio | High Frequency (HF) radio is a small part of the radio spectrum. Within this segment of radio frequencies are many services, including short-wave broadcasters, HAM radio operators, long-range marine and aircraft communications. The HF part of the spectrum is notable for its potential for long distance communications, depending on frequency and time of day. Two PCX-250 models are available, with either 10Watt PEP or 20Wat PEP transmit output levels, and battery capacity capable of providing days of standby operation. It's tough aluminum case and ultra durable construction are designed to survive in hot, humid environments or in the frozen reaches of the high Arctic. The PCX-250EX SSB HF Transciever is designed for the harshest environments where long battery life, ease of use, and enduring construction are demanded. The radio case is designed for the toughest Arctic and Desert conditions, and is virtually immune to breakage. If you want the toughest radio, requiring very little knowledge of HF radios to operate, make sure your next expedition includes the PCX-250EX. The unit comes complete with a durable, ballistic nylon packsack, and extended temperature microphone. |
Iridium Satellite Phone | Qaujimautik Systems Inc. sells portable satellite phones and pagers operating on the Iridium network. Low satellite orbits allow communication with compact handheld satellite phones and a small external antenna. The voice quality is clear and sharp, without the delays and echoes commonly experienced with higher-orbit satellites. Satellite phones offer the functionality of 2-way voice communication, they can be a stand-alone unit or used with a GPS transceiver. The Grab and Go Kit includes an Iridium phone, spare battery, foldable solar charger, and an instruction card - all enclosed in a waterproof, shock resistant, durable carry case. |
Mobile Satellite Tracking Device | There are a few components to a tracking system. The mobile tracking device is connected to both a battery and a 2-in-1 antenna (GPS and Iridium). The antenna is the only component that is outside of the protective case, however, it is suitable for harsh climates and is impact, UV, and chemical resistant. |
Remote Monitoring Platforms | Qaujimautik Systems will design and fabricate a variety of monitoring platforms depending on our client requirements. Depending on available power, our specialty is in the design and development of remote stations that are powered by solar and/or wind turbine technologies and can include a variety of sensors and/or alarms. |
Satellite Transceiver | Satellite transceivers are similar to the tracking devices without location information. They allow you to connect to the satellite system and send data from a remote location. Transceivers can be used to connect scientific monitoring equipment to a satellite so that data can be accessed at regular intervals without traveling to the site to retrieve the data. In the past, many projects have used transceivers to transmit data in near real-time. Some of these projects include the NASA High Altitude Baloon Program, NASA's JPL Antarctic Program, and the U.S. SOCOM Snow Goose Program. Many instruments that are continually collecting data and saving to a data logger can be setup with a transceiver. Some of these include weather stations, temperature sensors, pressure sensors, humidity sensors, and light intensity sensors. |
Web application development | Qaujimautik Systems has designed several custom web applications for clients ranging from land lease monitoring applications to custom document management systems, online agenda creation tools and real-time calendars. Our clients include the Nunavik Marine Regoin Planning Commission (NMRPC), Nunavik Marine Region Impact Review Board (NMRIRB), Nunavik Landholding Corporation Association (NLHCA), the Government of Nunavut, the Nunavut Impact Review Board (NIRB) and the Nunavut Water Board (NWB). |
