Inversa intends to develop Backscatter Computed Tomography (BCT) as a commercial product. This product will allow the computed tomography of dense structures with only one side of access. Customers will be able to literally see into difficult to access structure. This technology will be used for targeted inspection applications where this imaging information has significant financial value. An example application is looking into insulated large diameter (above 12 inches) steam pipes for flow induced corrosion. Currently, this type of inspection is conducted during plant shutdowns. This product would provide value since it can conduct this inspection during plant operation, potentially shortening costly shutdowns. This product can also be used for many other similar applications.
