| Recycling programs for used rechargeable batteries | Call2Recycle Canada, Inc Recycling Plans Call2Recycle Canada, Inc has developed and implemented multiple plans to collect used rechargeable batteries. Each of these plans (Retail, Community, Business and Public Agency) has been designed to be user-friendly, easy to implement and highly efficient. Retail: Consumers can take their used rechargeable batteries to participating locations and hand it over to the store personnel for recycling. Specially-marked containers for the collection of the used rechargeable batteries along with handling instructions and in-store consumer awareness materials have been provided free-of-charge to each participating retailer by the Call2Recycle Canada, Inc. Once full, the retailer arranges for the shipment of the container to the Call2Recycle Canada, Inc consolidation facility that in turn sends the rechargeable batteries for recycling. The program is free to citizens and there is no charge to the retailer to participate. Community: The Community Recycling Plan assists county and municipal recycling coordinators in using existing infrastructure to operate a household rechargeable battery collection program. Examples include household hazardous waste collection centres and recycling centres. The Call2Recycle Canada, Inc pays all transportation/shipping costs and recycling charges as well as provides collection containers at no cost to the community. Business and Public Agency: This plan is designed to assist businesses, institutions and government agencies in structuring and managing the collection of non-household rechargeable batteries, usually in workplace locations. Call2Recycle Canada, Inc offers streamlined procedures for shipping the used rechargeable batteries to our designated consolidation facility (CF). Call2Recycle Canada, Inc pays for the transportation from the CF to the recycling centre and all recycling costs. |
