Our team has demonstrated success in working with First Nations on a number of natural resource development projects, including electricity distribution, transmission, renewable electricity generation (including wind, solar and waterpower) and winter road management. In all of these projects, MWA has focused on capacity development within First Nations communities, with the goal of developing successful First Nation owned and operated projects that bring both long and short-term benefits to their owners. MWA has carried out recruiting and supported the career development of the Aboriginal employees that eventually run these companies, providing mentoring to community members as needed. MWA is also skilled in carrying out community engagement to inform and maintain community support which is critical during a long-term project when there can be leadership changes. MWA Inc. has also been involved the development of economic development strategies, traditional knowledge studies, program and organizational reviews, mine closure reviews, consultation protocol development, board and governance training and strategic planning.
