Assay Services and Out-Licensing | Axela offers research customers who have unique performance requirements an opportunity to work directly with our own product development team in order to provide them with customized services and products to address their needs. Whether it is for the study of a novel molecular expression signature or a highly specialized immunoassay, researchers will benefit directly with the companys technical experience in designing and manufacturing of flow-through microarrays and sensors for gene and protein analysis, as well as our ability to create customized software packages for data analysis. The company is currently seeking opportunities for platform licensing in specific markets, or disease areas. Content can be transferred to the existing platforms or incorporated in instrument formats specifically suited to the partners needs. |
Diffractive Optics Sensors | Our current sensor technology is based upon the polystyrene prism, a disposable sensor that consists of a contiguous array of interaction surfaces or spots lining the bottom of a 10 µL flow channel. The spots are composed of a coupling reagent pre-patterned in a repetitive sequence of lines forming a diffraction grating. Several attachment chemistries (eg: avidin, amine reactive, oligonucleotide-based addressing reagents for multiplexing) allow the user flexibility in coupling their own content to the sensors. The upcoming sensor disks will feature multiple sensors on single disk thereby enabling higher sample throughput on our next generation diffractive optics instrument. These sensors will also allow for the incorporation of all reagents directly on the disk thereby improving workflow and reducing the overall assay time. The disk-based design of the sensor also permits a variety of assay formats, including higher multiplex capabilities and improved quantitation methods. Diffractive Optics Technology | Diffractive optics technology, or dot®, brings together two well-understood technologies: grating-based light diffraction and immobilized capture surfaces. This combination produces a sensitive and very simple technique for the detection of molecular binding and dissociation events without the use of fluorescent labels. |
Flow-Through Microarray TipChips | At the heart the Ziplex® System is the single-use TipChip consumable designed for routine and focused multiplex analysis for nucleic acids or proteins. The TipChip is a disposable device consisting of a 6.5 mm square chip mounted on a plastic tube. The chip is made of porous silicon with >200,000 microchannels. A single capture probe sight occupies approximately 70 microchannels. Within each microchannel is a three dimensional matrix where molecular interactions occur as target solutions are repeatedly passed back and forth through the channels. This approach facilitates the interaction between target molecules and immobilized probes, resulting in 3 to 4 times faster hybridization of oligonucleotides or protein binding. |
panelPlus - Custom Multiplex | With panelPlus technology, you can now easily create your own multiplex biomarker panels for use on either Axelas flow through microarrays or diffractive optics sensors. Simply label the reagents for the biomarkers of your choice with a panelPlus Labeling Kit, and then apply them to a panelPlus microarray or sensor to give a uniquely customized multiplex panel. Combined with the efficiency and sensitivity of our flow through technologies, panelPlus can now provide a quicker route from assay development to clinical testing. |
Ziplex System | The Ziplex® System is a medium-density microarray platform designed for routine and focused multiplex analysis of protein or RNA biomarkers. Unlike expensive, high-density microarray systems that overwhelm researchers with large amount of unnecessary data, the Ziplex® System uses a highly reproducible, lower density array to provide expression information on specific genetic or protein biomarker signatures. It uniquely combines three separate automated functions (hybridization/protein binding, washing/labeling and imaging) into a single bench top instrument providing researchers with a highly flexible platform that is fast and simple to use. |
