PINpoint is a corporate application that facilitates collaboration and eliminates misdirected communications, by ensuring that BlackBerry users have up-to-date contact information on their handhelds, including PIN#, cell phone#, job title, etc.
PINpoint provides users with additional, BES-specific information not normally found in the BlackBerry address book, as well as information collected from your Corporate Directory (e.g. Microsoft Active Directory or Novell eDirectory).
Complete and accurate contact information is particularly valuable for Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Plans, making PINpoint a great communications enabler for when your corporate email systems are unavailable (e.g. to use pin-to-pin messaging).
PINpoint distributes ("pushes") an up-to-date listing of users defined in your BlackBerry Enterprise Servers® (BES), as well as additional external contacts maintained in a database, spreadsheet, or directory. PINpoint collects and pushes the most up-to-date contact information on a schedule, and stores it directly in your BlackBerrys' cache memory. This ensures that the data will be available when your users need it, even if your systems are down or unreachable.
